Elk County Inmate Population is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, pull official booking records, change court records, or speak for the jail. Use the official office that holds the record for any binding answer.

Where to Look First

Elk County has no official online jail roster or mugshot gallery in the research file. For current local custody, start with the sheriff's office and the Elk KS Detention Center. For court filings, use the district court clerk or Kansas Case Search. Sentenced state prisoners, federal inmates, and immigration detainees use separate systems.

Use the list below to match the question to the right record source.

  • For a person who may be in the county jail, use jail inmate records and call the sheriff's office.
  • For a booking photo or mugshot request, review jail roster mugshots and ask the sheriff whether a KORA request is needed.
  • For charges filed after booking, use court records after a jail arrest, Kansas Case Search, and the district court's written request process.
  • For a facility-specific question, use the Elk KS Detention Center page and confirm current rules by phone.
  • For a sentenced Kansas prisoner, use KDOC's KASPER search; it is not the county jail roster.
  • For custody status notice, use Kansas VINE. For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP inmate locator or ICE ODLS.

The 13th Judicial District says records requests to the clerk must be in writing and that the clerk has three business days to respond. Provide a case number when possible, and ask about copy, certification, fax, email, and research fees before ordering records.
